description: One off very special Carlson rod and yes still another for the museum! This very special rod from the late great Sam Carlson is the only rod of it's kind and comes with providence from Dana Gray who now owns the Carlson rod shop. As stated the rod itself was built around 1959 pre-serial numbers which was standard at the time. These rods only had Carlson listed on the flat as this rod has. This is also the only staggered ferrule rod Sam had ever built other than maybe 2 bait rods but no fly rods! Also at the time Sam took the rod back in to repair and refurbish the rod. It was at this time when he built an extra tip and made the appropriate 3 tip rod sack. So what we now have is the one and only staggered ferrule rod Sam ever built with 3 tip! He completed and delivered the rod in Oct 2001 approx 6 month prior to his death. It also happens to be in "Mint" condition as you can see from the photo's! Just a special rod in all respects! Probably one of the finest small stream dry fly rods you will ever find. Sam only built a few hundred rods in his lifetime. Standard flamed cane, red wraps with black tipping, cork reel seat with black sliding band and butt cap. This is truly a special rod in many ways extremely rare piece of fly fishing history! The rod itself has been stored in a control environment for all these years!
