description: Originally this 1946 R.L. Winston rod built by Lew Stoner started out life as a one tip rod serial number 6153. Just a few months ago Glenn Bracket made the extra tip for this fine rod and it has never been fished . So this would be a new tip! There is a bit on color variation between each tip but very slight and is normal from age and patina. The rod itself is in very good shape with normal ware and shows signs of an owner who took very good care of his tackle. It really shows for a rod being nearly 60 years old. Normal honest ware to the overall rod with a few dent to the rod tube from storage. At some point would be nice to have Glenn re-varnished the complete rod but not necessary the rod is good to go and ready to fish like it sets. Light medium toned cane Tan & gold silk wraps, wells grip with down locking bakelite reel seat. Agate stripper guide, durobronze ferrules wrapped in tan & gold silk. Original owner name printed on the rod. Sold to Lloyd D. Hanford. This is not your normal Winston 5wt! I found this rod to be a little bit faster then my normal Winston 5wt rods. Very powerful dry fly action and one of the classic rods of our time.
