description: Considered by many to be one of the finest Rod makers of our time. Douglas J. Ducks passing in 2001 was a great loss to fly fishing. Beautiful Douglas Duck small stream model. Medium brown tone cane, Garrison grip with black slide band and cap, dark fiddle back wood spacer, bright black Super Z type ferrules, Carbaloy stripper guide with black snake guides, black wraps at the winding check and both male & female ferrules. A perfect rendition of the Garrison rod. Smooth semi-parabolic dry fly action. Very nice rod. When Mr. Duck's built his cane rods all cane was oven tempered in the culm, hand split, hand straightened and hand planed to exacting tolerances. Node spacing was a spiral pattern so that no section of a rod has nodes appearing on more than one flat and as far away from each other on adjacent flats. Mr. Duck hand made all his nickel silver slide bands and butt caps Then he would always use fiddle back, or Birdseye maple wood inserts. What great rods! The rod itself is NM condition but had to be sent to Steve Blake to have ferrule set and re-wrapped and has been given a clean bill of health by Steve. This was not a major repair what so ever and many of the best rod made today have had a ferrule come loose. The rod is 100%!
