description: Stunning early Payne rod made by Jim himself circa early 50's. Early red label Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch on butt cap. The rod is in "M" condition paper wrap was remove from the rods grip but still like the other rods perfect varnish no issue and no repairs . Each rod been stored all these years in an controlled environment as if it just came from the Payne Rod Shop and is 100% original. The rods weight is 2-7/8ozs and is rated as a 4wt rod. If you collect Paynes this is a rod you will want and most likely never see again in this condition. This rod came out of "The Crawford Collection" which is the largest collection of Abercrombie and Fitch tackle in the world and some of the Finest rods I have seen in years! Additional information and follow-up history: At this time we are trying to confirm and located providence on these group of rods that ties them to Dwight D. Eisenhower the 34th U.S. president of the United States and the original owner. There is a photo of President Eisenhower with one of the rods but we have still not located these items yet! If an when located all original document would be send to the new owners! It is at this time not sure if we can locate said items and the reason items were not mentioned in the original add.
