Beautiful Douglas Duck model FFX-8 "Gillum" Serial number 2062 Built in 1999. Medium brown tone cane, Gillum colors of tipping above the hook keeper and at the base of each tip with nickel silver slide band and cap, maple wood spacer, bright nickel silver Super Z type ferrules, Ferrule plug, Carbaloy stripper guide with black snake guides. A perfect rendition of the Gillum rod. Strong smooth dry fly action. Very nice rod. When Mr. Duck's built his cane rods all cane was oven tempered in the culm, hand split, hand straightened and hand planed to exacting tolerances. Node spacing was a spiral pattern so that no section of a rod has nodes appearing on more than one flat and as far away from each other on adjacent flats. Mr. Duck hand made all his nickel silver slide bands and butt caps Then he would always use fiddle back, or Birdseye maple wood inserts. Just one of the best dry fly rods around!
