description: Stunning rod in all respects from talented east coast rod builder Rob Smith. I have cast and fish many rods over the years! I must say the 744RS model always stands out along with the finest rods in my collection!! Rob is a throw back to the early day of rod builders and the rod is somewhere in the old school family of Paul H. Young & Payne. This is a 7 ft 4 inch rod made for a DT4 wt line. Pentalux rod tips are very fine, this rod has size 3.5 tip tops and a size 12 ferrule. As well, the rod and tips all have the serial number (21010)in the case of this rod, cold stamped into the cane (excluding midge tips as they are inked) and can be found at the base of the tips and just below the stripper guide you (sometimes need to shine a flashlite onto them to see) the serial number. I have yet to see another rod builder use this process. This Pentalux taper is designed to handle a wide range of flies and techniques - With this rod taper, loop size and line speed are easily controlled in any situation wet or dry this rod will do it all - a very responsive rod with power to spare - loves to be hauled. Nickel silver ferrule plug and hook keeper at the request of Myself. As with all Rob's Pentalux rods, if you are not completely satisfied with the rods performance on the water return it for a complete refund. These rods are made to fish and by their design I believe are the some of the finest performance rods available in bamboo today!
