description: ANOTHER 1881-1981 Centennial Rod SET PRICED TO SELL. Wonderful piece of history in this 8'6" 5wt 3/2 H.L. Leonard 1881-1981 Centennial Rod. The rod is in "NEW" condition never used with it's wooden case lined in stunning blue/green velvet and Leonard rod tube placed next to the rod. The wooden rod case itself has a few marks from storage over the years which is very normal for a rod almost 30yrs old now. The rod was complete by Bob Taylor, Tom Baily, Don Nazzaro, Ronald Taylor, Mark Murphy, Virginia Luhrs, Donna Denaxis and Diane Charleston. Rod has the standard nickle silver cap and ring with butternut reel seat, 19th century style ferrule plugs, rattan grip and the rod is wrapped in stunning red silk with signature wraps then to top it off red silk was also placed very nicely in the rattan grip itself. This all make for a rod that is very pleasing to the eye and really belong behind glass in a museum. Rods serial number is 81-34 or the 34th rod built in 1981. Also Leonard had set out to produce 50 rods but no more than 35 were ever accounted for. A must for the collector of the finest tackle!
