description: Mike Spittler personal rod in E condition! The rod has been fished with a very clean blank (no marks) with the only marks being on the rod tube itself from many trips to the stream. The cork has been clean and has a bit of ridging but not bad at all. Light flamed cane with brown silk wraps and gold tipping standard Payne colors serial number of 384 made in 1984. This is a Hollow Fluted rod with modified half wells grip ala Sam Carlson quad with up locking sliding band over cork, Agate stripper guide, bright guides and perfect varnish. Smooth full flexing semi Parabolic authoritative 4/5wt rod. Nice and light in the hand! Mike Spittler has been building the quadrate construction almost exclusively for the last 30 years. Some of his training and ideas came from visits Glenn Brackett, Bob Summers and Sam Carlson. Later Mike acquired the famed milling machine from Bob Summers that was originally designed and build by Morris Kushner. Mike's rods are stunning to say the least. Mike is building some of the finest Quads made today and very hard to acquire. One can expect to wait 2 years or more for one of these work of art. Another stunning rod that you just never see for sale on the secondary market.
